This course, from the beginning has been so easy to follow. The material is organized, and I love the aspect of both written and video material, as I learn best visually. Both Jenna and Lisa really did an amazing job explaining and providing knowledge. For anyone looking into this course, I highly recommend. It's great because you can go at YOUR pace. I finished in a month and a half (about 6 weeks). During that time i had family in town, I moved, if you stay disciplined and focused it is so possible to bust it out, however, you can take your time. I took a journal full of notes, so getting through the videos sometimes took me twice as long. I feel so fulfilled already having this knowledge and getting to share it with my childhood friend that just had her first baby. I am so grateful.

When I started this training, I didn't really know what Ayurveda was, what it's importance was or really how to help mothers postpartum (even though I had a passion for it!). This course is absolutely above and beyond. Perfect for the absolute beginner, but also wonderful for anyone who already has a doula certificate! I feel prepared, encouraged, educated and empowered to go out and do this very sacred work in serving mothers during this fragile period. This course comes with an abundance of resources, lots of group communication and so much more. Would absolutely take it again!!

I have enjoyed reading the lessons, attending the videos and preparing recipes for my use. It is all full of very practical and hands on activities that stick closely to Ayurvedic and Yoga wisdom . Some lessons I was amazed how well they were explained in lay terms. They were within total reach and understanding of anyone without a background in Ayurveda, and yet nothing's missing.. Some of the advice was similar to what I received when giving birth to my two babies, over 40 years ago, However, the addition of Ayurveda perspectives and Vata specific support make this set of advices richer and far more complete than what I had. Often, I wished I had been given the opportunity in my birthing years to have gotten that kind of rich support and wisdom. I can see now how much more enjoyable that experience could have been if I had received it. So, It is heartwarming to know it is available and within reach to young mothers today. Keep up the good work, you are offering a gift to our community, at a time when we are in dire need to reconnect with that sort of ancient wisdom.

The Ayurvedic Postnatal Pillars of Care

The first weeks following birth are a time that mind-body recovery is essential. This includes healing the body, balancing of the nervous system, and facing the questions that arise around newborn care. The Pillars of Care hold a steady container around the postnatal journey as it unfolds, while serving positive long term impact for both mother and baby. Learn about the pillars below.

  • Nourishment

Establishing a strong digestive system is considered critically important in Ayurvedic healing. Impaired agni is at the root of all ongoing imbalances, mental and physical conditions. Digestive strength is a cornerstone of ensuring complete health and strength. Our course includes over 20 different meal prep demonstrations, a 100+ page recipe ebook, over 60 minutes of video instruction, and detailed guidance on the individualized use of herbs.

  • Mindfulness

Breathwork and meditation are among the greatest tools which allow a new mother to consciously connect to the monumental process taking place in her heart, body and life. Yoga means union, and here that union can be thought of as the one developing between mother and baby. It is also the union of the relationship a woman has with all that her body is going through in the chapter following birth. These practices can be considered guide-points throughout a mother’s journey towards post-birth healing.

  • Touch

Abhyanga is an Ayurvedic therapy that uses touch, which greatly supports blood flow and the circulation of prana throughout the body. The senses connected to Vata dosha are sound and touch. Using warm oil bodywork along with other healing practices in a therapeutic way can help to achieve and maintain homeostasis post-birth.

  • Rest

Deep rest is amongst the most important needs through the first 6-8 weeks post-birth. This sends the body a message that recovery can take place, and the mind-body can move into a full-time rest and digest mode. You will learn each of the tools and conversations needed to ensure as much comfort and care is brought to mothers throughout each day.

Ayurvedic Mamas is a distinguished platform of education and direct support for bringing complete post-birth care and recovery to the homes of newly birthed families."

Meet Jenna Furnari, MA

Director and Creator

As a Board Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner, Ayurvedic Postpartum Specialist and DONA trained Postpartum Doula, Jenna Furnari specializes in working with women throughout preconception, pregnancy, birth and postnatal recovery. She spent over 4 years at the Mount Madonna Institute studying Ayurveda and completing her thesis research on maternal health.  Her studies and field work include time spent working directly with Dr. Sarita Shresta at a women's health clinic in Nepal.

In 2017, after nearly a decade spent building her own practice, Jenna gave birth to her first child. The journey of her First 42 Days brought whole-hearted clarity to the future of her work in the world: Ensuring complete postnatal support and recovery for as many women as she could reach. And from there, Ayurvedic Mamas was born.

Jenna's practice brings together the two invaluable systems of Ayurveda and doula care. The goal with every client is to create and sustain deep, ongoing balance, and to promote longevity through the entry of this new chapter.

Jenna works with women internationally, and the mission behind her work is to bring awareness and accessibility of this essential support to expectant mothers, doulas, and those in the world with a passion towards honoring this sacred time.
